World Day of Peace

Recorded January 1st, 2014

In 1968 Pope Paul VI declared January 1 to be the World Day of Peace and wrote a message of peace on that day. Every Pope since continued the custom, including Pope Francis, who has chosen the theme,

“Fraternity, the Foundation and Pathway to Peace.”

In it he urges us to open our hearts in a new way to our brothers and sisters affected by poverty, hunger, conflicts, migrations, inequalities, pollution, underdevelopment, and injustice.

Here is the recording of the discussion held that day at St. Thomas More, Chapel Hill, with about 20 people participating.
